Peru

Just a quick note from Cajamarca, Peru to let you all know that we are safe and having a grand time so far in our trek to the southern areas of South America. We are traveling by bus which can be very tiring at times. This is, actually, the best way to see the countryside. The coastal part of Peru is an amazing desert where the winds blow very hard every afternoon. Then there is a tremendous sand storm that nearly blocks out all that one is trying to see.

Do you remember your history lessons about Pizarros easy conquest of the Inca Indians? This city, Cajamarca is where it all happened. We viewed the Cama de Rescate today where the gold and the silver were piled for the release of Atahualpa. This was our first view of the amazing archeology of the Incas. Fascinating!

WE will write more later and send photos with the messages, but we wanted to let all of you know that we are safe and enjoying the trip.
