Sailors Anonymous - Dec. 1

Sailors Anonymous with Nick Hayes

As seen in Sailing Magazine October 2009
Author/Sailor Nick Hayes will speak at our next Sailors Anonymous Meeting!!!

Nick's recently published book talks about the need to counteract a slow decline of sailing participation over recent decades, and how to build stronger family and youth programs for sailing clubs. The author, sailor and market researcher, advocates developing intergenerational mentoring programs (to encourage more young sailors to stick with the sport into adulthood), and for families to look at sailing as an opportunity for more togetherness. It's an interesting read, and one that sailing clubs will appreciate for its advocacy of the core role of sailing clubs to build lifelong passion for sailing.

In his presentation, Hayes will share his experiences while researching and writing the book, he will share the facts, dispel some myths, read an excerpt, and offer suggestions for clubs like Anchorage YC to secure its future. Hayes' talks are lively, fun and in demand: Just in the last year, he has presented in Newport, Paris, Chicago, Annapolis, and Houston to organizations like Sail America, the ISAF and US Sailing.
